Fluoride Adds Strength to Your Teeth – LET’S PROVE IT!
Comfort Dental offers this experiment to simulate the protective powers of Fluoride.
Topical fluorides go on your teeth and include toothpastes, mouth rinses and professionally applied fluoride therapies.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 Bottle of Fluoride Rinse Solution
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Bottle of White Vinegar
- 3 Containers
What to Do:
1 – Pour about 4 inches of Fluoride rinse solution into one container and then place an egg in solution for about 5 minutes. Remove the egg.
2 – Pour about 4 inches of vinegar (an acid) into each of the two remaining containers.
3 – Put the egg treated with Fluoride in one container of vinegar and the untreated egg into the other container of vinegar.
4 – See what happens!
What You’ll Notice:
One egg will start to bubble as the vinegar (an acid) starts to attack the minerals of the egg shell. Which egg do you think will start to bubble?
