What to Expect

Your first experience likely started with a conversation with one of friendly front office team members to set up your appointment – or maybe you requested an appointment online.  Each of our front office professionals strives to explain any initial questions you have prior to your first appointment & find a time that fits well in your schedule.

Lafayette in dentistsNo matter if you are seeing us for a problem-focused visit or a comprehensive exam of your entire mouth – your first visit will include a dental examination.

  • If you do not have recent, up-to-date x-rays, we will take a set of x-rays allowing us to properly diagnose any issues that cannot be seen just by looking at your teeth and gums.
  • X-rays are very useful for noting the condition of the jaw, sinuses, teeth and tissue below the gum line.
  • These digital images that appear on the video display chair-side in each patient operatory are crucial for providing comprehensive care that effectively addresses your unique dental needs.

For patients receiving a comprehensive dental exam, here are some of the specific points Dr. Brucken and Dr. Stubbs will evaluate:

  3. Visual inspection of your face and neck for any abnormalities such as bumps, lumps or swelling
  4. Careful inspection of the mouth tissue for any ulcers or abnormal discoloration of the lips or inside the mouth, including a screening for oral cancer
  5. A thorough examination of your gums and for any signs gum infection or gum disease.
