Dental Benefits, Dental Insurance acceptedGet Ahead of January Dental Benefit Resets!

By far the majority of the dental insurances we process for our patients at Comfort Dental reset in January. This mean, for those who do not fully utilize their annual benefit – lose that unused portion.

Use those benefits – or lose them!

A recent study showed that about 50% of people have dental insurance. Of that – only about 20% of those people maximize their annual benefits. This means a lot of dental benefit is lost each year as the annual allotment expires.

Here are 4 things for you to consider today:

Routine dental cleanings#1 – Has everyone covered by your plan had the basics – cleaning, exam and x-rays?

Dental insurance packs the greatest punch when it comes to maintenance.  Routine exams, x-rays and cleanings are typically covered at 80-100%.

Your dental insurance company knows the best way to keep their costs down is for their customers to get maintenance care and catch dental issues early – when they are least expensive.

Don’t let your dental insurance provider skate by without covering your basic care for 2012.

#2 – Do you have any teeth giving you concern today?

There is still time to have issues you might be putting off addressed before year-end.

Routine dental exam#3 – Did the dentist mention any teeth needing attention at your last visit?

Maybe you have fillings that needs to be addressed. Perhaps there is a tooth needing a crown.

Keep in mind for both #2 and #3 – It may make sense to take advantage of your remaining dental benefits in 2012 to begin your treatment. To maximize your benefits you may choose to move the next phase of treatment to early 2013.

#4 – Start thinking about how you are going to maximize your 2013 benefits now.

The earlier you can schedule that basic coverage for you and your family (routine exams, x-rays and cleanings) the greater flexibility you have to get the time and date that best fits your schedule.

Routine exams are also the time Dr. Brucken and Dr. Stubbs discuss their clinical observations, answer patients questions, and plan for how they can work with you to ensure you have a healthy smile for a lifetime.
